UHD LED Screens
What are UHD LED Screens?
LEDPros always aims to be up-to-date on the latest technology and UHD LED screens are no exception. Recently you may have heard terms such as “4k” or “UHD” when referring to TVs and computer monitors. UHD stands for Ultra High Definition. UHD is approximately 4 times greater then the usual 1080p “HD” TV. UHD has recently been introduced to the LED industry creating screens that have no minimum viewing distance. A minimum viewing distance is a common criteria seen with standard LED screens and indicates the minimum distance one needs to stand away from the screen in order to view it clearly.
What does this mean?
Standard LEDs vs UHD LEDs
Standard LED screen pannels usually have a pixel pitch (“P” Rating/ Dot Pitch) from P4 to P30+. A P Rating measures the distance between the dots used to display the image on the screen. Lower P Ratings have higher resolution, i.e. a clearer picture and a lower minimum viewing distance requirement.
The new UHD LED screen panels have a P Rating of 1.9. UHD P1.9 is twice the resolution of the best standard LED screen’s P4.
Advantages of UHD
The three main advantages of UHD over standard LED are:
- They have the lowest possible minimal viewing distance
- You can display more complex images
- There is no resolution limitations on pictures or videos
So, What’s the Catch?
Everything comes with a price, especially UHD panels. Due to their cutting edge technology and newness to the market, UHD panels are still relatively costly. Thus, the larger the dimensions of the screen are that you want to build, the higher the cost.
Is It Worth It?
The answer is: Yes.
