Your digital LED sign is only as effective as your sign content. Sign content isn’t as obvious as it may seem and it will require some strategic thinking. Content Limitations:
- Sign Type: your first step is determining what type of sign you want or have, and what limitations accompany the sign. For example, some digital LED signs only allow for text to be displayed while others allow for high-res video. Also, the size of your sign will determine your content limitations.
- Purpose: next you should decide on the purpose of your sign. Is it to simply display your brand, or to show your opening hours, or do you want to display promotions and other marketing communications.
- Sign Location: whether your sign is located indoors, outdoors, facing the road or on your store front, this may change what you want displayed and who you are targeting. For example, outdoor signs may want to incentivize passerby’s to enter your store, while indoor signs may entice users to make purchases.
- Timing: make sure you have your content ready for various promotions, events and for different seasons (especially Xmas).
Content Types:
- Text Content: this type of content should be used when displaying simple messaging like store hours and basic promotions (BOGO or discounts). Use effects like different colours, scrolling options and borders to add more of an effect.
- Image Content: this type of content grabs more attention, especially when displayed with colours. Image content is ideal for displaying branded content, events and promotions (with images users can now visualize the promotion). If the sign screen is high resolution, consider displaying pictures with your ad text. And if it is of lower resolution, display more basic images, like larger image content with less details.
- Video Content: before considering video display, ensure you have will have someone who can create video content. Video content is great for showcasing your brand story and more detail advertisements. Make sure to keep the length to a minimum and that the ad is played in a loop.
